If you find yourself wandering through Kamakura, a visit to cafe Luonto is an absolute must. Tucked away just minutes from Hase Station, this charming cafe offers a delightful escape from the bustling streets, enveloping you in a warm, artsy atmosphere perfect for relaxation. With local artwork adorning the walls and a peaceful ambiance, it’s easy to see why patrons rave about their experiences here.

The cafe's strategic location allows guests to enjoy a front-row view of the Enoden tram as it glides by—a mesmerizing sight that adds an extra layer of charm to your coffee experience. Imagine sipping your fresh brew while watching the trains pass, the sound of the railway mingling with soft jazz, skillfully curated by the owner. It’s a sensory delight that complements your visit perfectly.

When it comes to menu offerings, cafe Luonto goes beyond just coffee and tea. Be sure to treat yourself to their heavenly coconut banana cream tart, which has been affectionately compared to the treats found at Tartine’s in San Francisco. With its rich, creamy layers punctuated by sweet raisins, it’s a dessert that dances on your palate. For those looking to satisfy a craving after a long day of exploring, their cakes deserve a spotlight as well—get ready for an inviting explosion of flavors that will make you want to return for more.

But it’s not just the food that patrons love. Customers like Mari M and Rina Munoz have highlighted the calming vibe of the cafe, noting that it’s a tranquil spot to unwind—a refuge from the chaos of tourist crowds. The impeccable service only enhances the overall experience, making you feel welcomed and valued. Even Jeremy Fox mentions the thoughtful addition of serving coffee with a side of hot water, allowing you to customize your brew just the way you like it.

While Daria P felt the carrot cake didn’t quite steal the show, she still appreciated the cafe’s charm and promised to return for more delicious offerings. This suggests that the allure of cafe Luonto lies not only in its menu but in the overall experience: a blend of thoughtful service, artistic surroundings, and a genuine love for the craft of cafe culture.

Whether you’re a local or a traveler, cafe Luonto invites you to pause, sip, and delight in the beautiful moments life has to offer. Don't miss out on this hidden gem where the coffee is fantastic, the desserts are a true treat, and the atmosphere is a breath of fresh air in your busy schedule.

Relaxing cafe with a front-row view of the Enoden, both from the inside tables and outside terrace. Located on a side street only a few minutes from Hase Station, it has a secluded feel when not swarming with tourists. Also loved the artsy vibe with local drawings covering the walls. Their coconut banana cream tart reminded me that of Tartine’s in SF – with raisins.

After a long day of walking, it's exactly what you need! The coffee is excellent, as are the cakes and teas. The service is impeccable, the atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxing, and the presence of the railway next to the venue adds an extra touch to the ambiance. Excellent selection of jazz music by the owner!

I don’t write reviews for places very often, but it’s been about one month since my trip to Kamakura and I find myself still thinking about this cafe. So I took that as my sign to write this review! Tucked away by Hase station, Cafe Luonto is a hidden, charming and quiet spot to escape the hustle and noise of busy roads and people. It wasn’t very busy inside but that could be because we went close to their closing time. The interior is so cute, with little bits of charm and personality all throughout the space. It makes you feel so warm and cozy, like you’re right at home. They were playing some soft music as well, which was really nice! Even though the train passes right by the cafe, it does not disrupt the calm atmosphere. It’s very cool to watch while drinking their delicious coffee and eating their wonderful desserts! I had their iced mocha which was delicious, not too sweet. I also had their cheesecake which was amazing! Also not too sweet, and very light. I wish I got a second slice. Funnily enough, we saw the cafe as we passed it on the train a few times, yet we didn’t think to stop by. After walking around the area looking for other cafes, all of which were closed for the day, we tried Cafe Luonto as our final spot. We are so glad we did! It almost feels like we were meant to visit this hidden gem. The owner and workers were so kind and chatted with us a little bit as we were leaving. When we were outside we turned around to get one final look at the cafe, then we saw the workers and owner waving at us through the window :’) It was a beautiful way to wrap up our day in Kamakura. I cannot wait for the day I get to come back! Sending love from Canada :D

This cafe is very cute. The service is also very good. I had their carrot cake and it was nice, but not amazing, therefore only 4 stars. But it is just my personal opinion. And I would not mind to back for something else.

A really nice little coffee shop right by Hase railway station on the Enoden line. Coffee served with a small jug of hot water (to dilute to taste, Spanish style). If you like to see the trains go by (right by the window) this is a bonus. It's also a quick walk to the sea from here. Oh, and they were selling tee-shirts for ¥500.

The drinks and cake were absolutely delicious—perfectly balanced in flavor and beautifully presented. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again.

The owner is very particular about the atmosphere, so there are some rules to follow. It's a lovely spot with great coffee and brunch, calm and beautiful view of the local train.
